A common sight and part of the Barranquilla Carnaval.

First of all, my computer has been dead due to a dead battery, due to a dead charger/ac adapter. I still have not had enough money to buy another adapter so am borrowing one. Hopefully soon I will have enough to buy an adapter/charger. I am quite surprised by the lack of HP computers and adapters/chargers here. Seems most laptops are not HP but Lenovo or other brands.

This old car has a crazy spoiler on the trunk lid. Wait, what?

This past week a friend of mine, or more accuratly, my girlfriend, Belkis, helped me with looking at some classifieds online for job listings for English teachers. These two and 3 or 4 more live in a sports park here in Barranquilla.

First off, last week I mentioned a bit about many roadside bars, restaurants and billiards places. Billiards if very popular here in Colombia. There are many, many billiards places all over the city, in just about every neighborhood. They may have from 2 billiards tables on up to a dozen or more. Most are just a few tables and a refrigerator for beer. Many of the roadside bars, if you can call them a bar, are just a small building, often no bigger than a typical American backyard shed, and some tables and chairs outside under an awning. The small building is just for storing the beer.

I used to teach English as a foreign language in Barranquilla, Colombia. Now I'm retired and traveling throughout South America.

I'm from Kennewick, Washington, USA. In my previous life, as I call it, I was an IT guy, systems administrator, computer tech, as well as a shipping/receiving guy and also worked as a merchandising guy in a RV/Camping store.
